Brach's Conversation Hearts Candy Packs: 24-Piece Box
Description
The origin of the conversation hearts lies in the heart of the American Civil War, when soldiers would carry candies called "cockles" with them to camp. Each contained mottoes or sayings that were printed on thin paper and rolled up inside the folded, shell-shaped candy. In the latter half of the 1860s, confectioners began to print those sayings directly onto the candy, and it quickly became a popular treat for weddings.
The idea of molding the message-bearing sweets into actual shapes (such as hearts) didn’t evolve until the turn of the 20th century, and that’s when the conversation hearts we now recognize filling aisles and candy dishes each Valentine season finally developed.
Brach’s candy hearts come in tasty apple, banana, cherry, orange, grape, and sweet mint flavors. And with a special place reserved for scribbling the names of the sender and recipients, you can tell your Valentine just how much you LUV them in six delicious flavors!
